Do note however that the relaxed configuration is not stored anywhere; it must be manually extracted from the log file. This problem will be fixed in a future release. - When clicking the "Browse" buttons, the dialog now opens in the foreground - k-points for left and right electrodes are now always identical - A memory leak which caused crashes in the 3D visualizations has been fixed - A minor feature update: one must now press "Show" to update the 3D view and band structure plot in the Nanotube Grower (it does not update automatically). On the other hand, one can run through the chiral indices very fast now! Also see the release notes for ATK 2.3.2 for updates related to the calculation engine! RELEASE NOTES VNL 2.0 * This is the official release of VNL 2.0. We eagerly anticipate any input and feedback from users! * This version of VNL requires version 2.0 of the VNL FLEXlm license feature. If you currently hold a 1.4 license, and hold either a maintainance or an annual license for VNL, you may upgrade FREE OF CHARGE. Please contact license@atomistix.com and be sure to include your customer number, found in the license file. * New features in Virtual NanoLab 2.0 include: - Complete access to all ATK features with the NanoLanguage Scripter. - Store and reuse NanoLanguage methods. APPLICATION NOTES VNL 2.0.1 * The notes below for VNL 2.0 all still apply, with the only minor change that ATK 2.3 should be replaced by ATK 2.3.2. APPLICATION NOTES VNL 2.0 * VNL runs on Windows 2000, XP and 2003, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.0 and SuSE Linux 9.x (all 32-bit). While it is expected to run also on other Linux distributions, this cannot always be guaranteed. Please visit Atomistix web site for detailed system requirements. * VNL 2.0 uses ATK 2.3 as the calculation engine. Additional system requirements apply for calculations; please visit Atomistix web site for detailed system requirements. * Recommended minimal system requirements: Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon at 2 GHz, 500 Mb free disk space, 512 Mb RAM. * To run VNL properly on Windows 2003 systems, it is sometimes necessary to modify the Data Execution Prevention(DEP) flag. In Windows XP it is turned OFF by default, but in Windows 2003 it is ON by default. For ATK 2.3 (the engine used by VNL 2.0 for calculations), this flag must be turned OFF. To turn the DEP flag off, open Control Panel->System->Advanced->Performance Settings->Data Execution Prevention and select "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select:", then click the "Add..." button, and add the file atk.exe located in the "bin" directory of the VNL installation to the list.
